The Issues

Creating and voting on legislation in the Statehouse requires firm values and a strong moral framework.  Check out what we want to accomplish and see if you agree.

Mark's opponent and his policies are not helping Hoosiers.  He is helping the wealthy.  His solution to our tax problems resulted in another tax break for the wealthy at the expense of working Hoosiers.  Governor Daniels and those that support him do not care that our children and grandchildren will be left holding the bill.  With internet communication and lightspeed exchange of information, new forward thinking problem solvers are needed as never before.

REPRESENTATION:  WHO IS THE INCUMBENT HELPING?

Money given to candidates from "Fat Cats" is used to successfully influence our leaders' decisions.  It will only end when the majority of votes ends the reign of the carreer politician. The apathetic, mislead masses have lost their government to a small number of self serving, profit driven people with no record of caring.

Click on this link to see for yourself the money trails indicating the incumbent's policies.  Do they really reflect what he says his key issues are, or do they look self serving?

MAJOR MOVES - MAJOR MISTAKES
In case you aren't aware, the current legislator for the 84th district leased our toll road to foreign investors for 75 years. As he was defending his bill it was obvious that he had not even read the contents.  This is not a lease, it is a sale in disguise.  We are already hearing from Hoosiers that are upset with the condition and service, as well as the rate increase to travel on the toll road.

HEALTH CARE:  A HUMANITARIAN CONCERN

Aging Americans challenge health care providers while the Statehouse of Representatives has done little to ensure the right to health care for all.  Wealth should not mean health.  Everyone is entitled to health services.  This humanitarian issue must be addressed.  We as a society have the means to ensure that no one is left without basic human needs and rights, including the right to health care.

JOBS AND EDUCATION:  KEEP THE INTELLECTUAL FORCES HERE

An unfortunate truth is that the intellectual forces are leaving our State upon graduation.  We need to keep these people here.  A program to offer incentive to stay, as many States have adopted, keeping scientists, engineers, and other intellectuals here while at the same time improving funding for schools and education will aide Indiana economically and enable future generations a better education and a better place to live.

TAXES:  OUR MODEL IS FAILING

Property taxes continue to fail to provide fair and needed reductions in tax rates for a primary residence. Recent changes were misleading for Hoosiers as the wealthy received the greatest savings.  The hardest working are facing hardships during times of rising prices. The State could have eliminated the need for State sales tax increases by using increased property taxes that target unnecessary large homes. Taxes are the most complex issue for every State.
Our leaders have had many chances to make our tax laws fair. They have not.

STOP RAIDING THE SICK AND DYING

People with cancer, AIDs, and hepatitis have excruciating nausea from treatments for their illnesses, and sometimes marijuana is their only relief.

Epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, migraines, arthritis, spinal and skeletal disorders, premenstrual syndrome, insomnia, hypertension, and many mental diseases like bipolar disorder and depression are all diseases that "recent studies have shown to be efficacious in treating."  This is a humanitarian issue.  People are sick, and some find their only relief in this nontoxic drug. Indiana should be voting to join Maryland and provide Hoosiers with a court defense of possession of marijuana for medical use. This is truly an ethical concern that should be discussed. Check out the 12 States and read what Maryland has done. This is not a matter of getting high, this is a matter of humanitarian kindness to those who cannot get help anywhere except from a plant that politics and money games have kept illegal
